Dedication’s what you need!
Shooting stars – normally we think of those exciting, breathtaking but ephemeral shafts of light that briefly illuminate the skies. Here at Windsor Forest Bowmen, we have our own version – father and son combination Marek and Bruno. This pair has outshone the rest of the club, because for the third consecutive week, with their own particular brand of Barebow brilliance, the pair of them have each set new club records.
This remarkable record began on 23 April – St George’s Day – when Marek set a new club record for the Senior Barebow American while Bruno did the same for the U12 Barebow Junior National. The following week (1st May), Marek broke the club’s Western record, while Bruno demolished its U12 Barebow Short Junior Western one. And this week (7th May), Marek smashed the Albion record while Bruno not only set a new club record for the U12 Barebow American, but he did so while scoring just 20 points shy of the U.14 Recurve record – and scoring his first Junior Bowman category into the bargain.
Congratulations also go to Piers Mohan and Phil Challen who broke their own PBs for the Windsor and Albion respectively. In Phil’s case, he matched his Handicap to come third in the May handicap trophy, whereas Piers shot superbly to better his handicap by no fewer than six, which was enough to beat John Foot into second place and secure the honours.
